    i have a 840 with a john deere 400 elevator scraper behind it and the dang thing when i put winter fuel in it it doesnt run worth crap i was wondering because my dealer says he cant get parts for a 840 but he can get parts for a 830 so i wanted to know if they where the same or not

    Depending on serial numbers of the 840, it could be a converted early 820 which had smaller injectors and pumps, plus different combustion chamber design. Thus the difference in green dash 820s and black dash 820s. Horsepower went from 67 to 75. All 830s had the bigger hp. The 830 & 840 have exactly the same engine physically and externally.
