GreenCollectors.com is honored to offer this rare and exquisite collection of handcrafted miniature plow replicas. The collection of 135 miniatures represents plows used from Biblical times until the middle of the 20th century that were primarily found in the Middle East, Europe and North America. One of the featured plows in this collection is an 1869 John Deere large prairie breaking plow. Dov Sadan, Israeli blacksmith/artist, who works in the Kibbutz Kinneret, created the collection over a five-year period.
Like John Deere, Mr. Sadan learned the blacksmiths' trade and became interested in plows through his rural roots. "I found much interest in the history of agriculture as I live in a Kibbutz, which is an agriculture village." He began by working on full-scale plows, and then moved to miniatures.
Each of the plows, sized 20 x 15 cm. (8 x 6 inches), was painstakingly researched by studying actual plows, photographs of original plows found in public places, and other written materials. Once the research was completed, Mr. Sadan meticulously crafted the models from iron and wood using historically accurate methods. "I used water soaked wood, so that it could be easily bent into shape. Each part was bent and nailed into place, [and so] each plow took me up to 40 hours to complete. The complicated plows took even a month's work."
The collection, recently exhibited at the Eretz Israel Museum in Tel Aviv, Israel, includes plows used with horses, oxen and tractors. Mr. Sadan wishes to keep the collection intact, and therefore is not willing to sell individual pieces. GreenCollectors.com is offering the entire collection to an individual, company or museum.
